Defensive Softball Drills - Partner Bucket
Purpose: This drill for fastpitch softball defense is to field a lot of ground balls without a throw.
Procedure: One partner has a bat and a bucket of balls. The fielder has an empty bucket nearby. The fungo hitter hits all the balls to the fielder, who fields them and puts them in the bucket. They then switch positions. Partners stand at their normal fielding distance from the batter. For example, if one partner is a shortstop and one is a third baseman, the partners stand farther apart when the shortstop is fielding and closer when the third baseman is fielding.
